One ancient European civilization that will never cease to impress, is the infamous Ancient Greek Civilization. This civilization spans from around 776 to 338 BC, and was divided into four periods, the Dark Age, the Archaic Age, the Classical Age and the Hellenistic Age.
This is a civilization that, despite being hundreds of years since its extinction, cannot be forgotten due to their contributions in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and philosophy.
We owe our essential thoughts regarding mathematics to antiquated Greek mathematicians, for example, Pythagoras, Euclid, and Archimedes. A portion of the principal cosmic models were created by Ancient Greeks attempting to depict planetary development, the axis of the Earth, and the heliocentric framework — a model that puts the Sun at the center point of our solar system. Hippocrates is perhaps the most well known doctor in ancient times; he set up a clinical school, wrote numerous medical works, and is credited with being the founder of modern medicine. Greek art and architecture was incredibly influential in other societies. Another sphere of life that was influenced forever by Ancient Greece is the area of sports. Indeed, the Ancient Olympic Games are honored even today, every four years. The original event was part of a one- day event to honour the Greek god Zeus, and were held at an ancient rural sanctuary site in the city of Olympia. Unlike today, however, the Ancient Olympics honored different sports, such as the Pentathalon, running, jumping, discus throw, wrestling, boxing, and equestrian events such as chariot and horse racing.
